Minecraft admin commands
The commands you actually use to run a Minecraft server: players, permissions, game mode, time and world rules.
These are the commands server owners use every day. Most of them need operator permissions in game, and all of them work in the panel console.
Where to type commands
- In game: open chat with T, or press / straight away. You need operator permissions.
- In the panel console: on the Dashboard, without the leading slash. The console has full permissions, so this is where you give yourself OP.
The Tab key in chat completes commands and player names, which saves you from typos in game rules and item names.
Players and permissions
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/op Nick | gives operator permissions |
/deop Nick | removes operator permissions |
/kick Nick reason | kicks a player from the server |
/ban Nick reason | bans a player permanently |
/pardon Nick | lifts a ban |
/whitelist add Nick | adds a player to the whitelist |
/list | shows who is online |
You can also manage the whitelist, operators and bans without commands in the Player list tab, even while the server is off.
Game mode, teleport, time and world
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/gamemode creative Nick | game mode: survival, creative, adventure, spectator |
/tp Nick1 Nick2 | teleports one player to another |
/tp Nick 100 64 -200 | teleports to coordinates |
/give Nick minecraft:diamond 64 | gives an item |
/time set day | sets the time to day (also night, noon) |
/weather clear | clear sky (also rain, thunder) |
/difficulty hard | difficulty level |
/gamerule keepInventory true | players keep their items after death |
Instead of a name you can use a selector: @a is all players, @p the nearest one, @s yourself.
